La Notte Design was hired to complete an open floor plan for a new family moving to Gainesville, Fla. Gia Arvin with Matchmaker Realty contacted Brandi Catalanotte, owner of La Notte Design, to help her clients, Thibaut and Kristen van Marcke. Open floor plans are great for hosting large parties with family and friends, not to mention, they are great for kids to move around easier.
La Notte Design created the design by taking out some walls, adding new paint, adding new hand scraped hardwood floors and finished the look with new doors. The newly designed doors created an open flow to the porch for the van Marcke’s home. Incorporating this simple design change in their new home allowed easy access from both inside and outside.
The kitchen was redesigned to create a better flow. The new design is a solid surface quartz stone from Silestone. This stone was added to create a clean and crisp overall look.
The home was designed with many of the family antiques, such as a great grandmother’s hand painted artwork with a few new pieces. This piece creates a nice transitional look.
The van Marcke’s made sure the materials that were removed from the home during the design were donated to habit for humanity.
Thibaut van Marcke joined North Florida Regional Medical Center in December 2013 as their COO.
